LORENA PLAZA GRAND OPENING

On April 11th, 2025, ACOF celebrated the Grand Opening of the long-awaited Lorena Plaza development in the heart of Boyle Heights. After 18 years in the making —yes, 18!—Lorena Plaza officially opened its doors in partnership with LA Metro. We are thrilled to welcome tenants as they take their next step toward stable, permanent supportive housing. We thank our many partners - from the community, our nonprofit colleagues, lenders, contractors, consultants, city and county partners, and Metro - for helping us reach this milestone.

MEET JOSEPH MIMMS

Joseph has been a tenant at 39West for the past five years, and recently graduated from ACOF’s Professional Development Program (PDP). Our PDP supports tenants to maintain employment or pursue other professional development opportunities. Joseph says he was, “driven by curiosity and desire for personal growth” to participate in the 16 week program. He describes the experience as “hope-giving” and providing “much-needed light” in difficult situations. Joseph is now ready to take the next step toward meaningful employment and is fully committed to continuing his journey of growth and transformation.

BUILDING COMMUNITY - ONE FAMILY AT A TIME

We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you—in addition to the opening of Lorena Plaza above, ACOF has completed two other properties that are now leasing up! Ventura Springs in the City of Ventura will serve veterans experiencing homelessness and their families and Huntington Square in the City of Huntington Park will serve veterans who are also seniors.

ACOF is also in construction on two additional supportive housing communities in the City of Los Angeles - Highland Heights and The Nova, both of which will open later this year!

Together, these five apartment buildings will provide affordable and supportive housing to 382 households in Southern California. Thank you to everyone for your support.
