Fall always seems to bring a shift in pace. Summer events have wrapped up, routines are settling back in, and we’re already looking ahead to the final few months of the year.
Around the Chamber, that means welcoming a new face to our office, wrapping up another successful flower basket season, sharing new resources for local businesses, and staying connected to the conversations and opportunities affecting McKinleyville.
There is plenty happening this fall, and we’re glad to have you connected with us.

| Meet Our New Office Coordinator, Kiana! | |
We are thrilled to welcome Kiana to the McKinleyville Chamber team! She is looking forward to meeting our members, learning more about our local business community, and being part of the great work happening through the Chamber.
Kiana will be helping with member communication, events, newsletters, office operations, and many of the behind-the-scenes details that keep things moving.
Be sure to say hello the next time you call or stop by the office!
| | A Beautiful Season Made Possible by Our Community | | |
For nearly five months, 54 flower baskets brought color to Central Avenue and helped create a welcoming corridor for McKinleyville’s businesses, residents, and visitors.
Keeping them healthy took a tremendous community effort. Volunteers covered around 60 watering shifts, contributing more than 200 hours of service throughout the season.
This year also brought an important improvement to the program. With support from the McKinleyville Area Fund and Trinity Diesel, the Chamber placed a new Kubota utility vehicle into service, making the watering process safer and more reliable for our volunteers.
Thank you to everyone who watered, sponsored a basket, or helped support the program, including Miller Farms Nursery for its continued partnership. Your time and generosity helped make McKinleyville a little more beautiful in 2026!

Stay Connected to Local Events
From workshops and fundraisers to community gatherings and member events, our online calendar is one of the easiest ways to see what is happening.
| | Made Locally? Show It Off with “Made in California” | | |
Do you manufacture products here in Humboldt? At last week's local economic summit I attended, I learned about California’s new Made in California program, which offers qualifying businesses an official label to use on their products, packaging, websites, and marketing materials, plus a listing in the program’s online product directory.
Manufacturers of any size can apply. To qualify, products must meet the program’s California production requirements, including having at least 51% of their wholesale value added in California.
Applications take approximately 15–20 minutes, and program fees are waived through December 31, 2026.
| | Help Make Sure McKinleyville Is Represented | |
The Humboldt County Business and Economy Survey 2026 is now open, and we would love to see strong participation from McKinleyville businesses and organizations.
A collaborative of business and nonprofit-serving organizations across Humboldt County is conducting the survey to help inform future programs and priorities, while also tracking impacts related to policy and program changes at the federal level.
The more responses received from McKinleyville, the better our local business community can be represented in the data. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and help make sure McKinleyville’s voice is included.
Special thanks to the Greater Eureka Chamber of Commerce and Eureka Main Street for coordinating the survey.
| How Prepared Is McKinleyville? | | |
What would happen in McKinleyville during a major emergency, and how would local agencies work together?
On October 28, the McKinleyville Community Services District and McKinleyville Municipal Advisory Committee will hold a joint meeting focused on disaster preparedness specific to the McKinleyville community.
The discussion will focus on local emergency response, coordination between agencies and community partners, and some of the challenges McKinleyville could face during a large-scale emergency.
This is a good opportunity for residents and businesses to better understand how preparedness and response work locally, and what role the community can play before an emergency happens.
| | Welcome to the Chamber family | | Thank You for Continuing to Invest in Our Community | | |
Our work is possible because local businesses and organizations continue to choose to invest in the Chamber and in the connections, resources, advocacy, and community-building work we do together.
