Revealed - US States That Require Uninsured Motorist coverage

About one in eight drivers in America are uninsured and the laws in most states have proven ineffective in reducing this number. Overall, 22 states posted numbers above the national average (12.6%) which include Mississippi with the highest percentage of uninsured drivers at 29.4%, followed by Michigan (25.5%), and Tennessee (23.7%). As individuals progress in their careers and build more wealth, their homes and valuable possessions tend to grow in value increasing their loss risk. Types of insurance coverage people might not realize they need include; excess flood insurance, jewelry and collectibles coverage, workers' compensation, cyber insurance, and/or an umbrella policy. Additionally, a survey released in 2017 by the Insurance Information Institute found that nearly half of all American homeowners mistakenly believe their homeowners insurance policy will cover them against flood losses.
