THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON

May 27–31, 2026

Head into the weekend right: cult Brazilian animation with free popcorn and book giveaways at East End Movie Nights, jazz inside a gallery, a Menil panel on the Hairy Who, the return of the Extremely Shorts Film Festival, and enough exhibition openings and even a storytime by artist Vivian Wise to keep you gallery-hopping straight through the weekend.

Best bets? Don't miss Friday's grand opening and inaugural exhibition reception for Revolver Galería Houston. Curated by Reynier Leyva Novo, the group show is not to be missed. The new space is directed by Megan Olivia Ebel who also runs RUBY Projects and LaRuche HTX Artist Residency. And if you haven't heard Darden Smith perform live, check out his artwork, his music, and his stories (!) on Saturday at Koelsch Gallery.

Houston is doing what Houston does best right now — giving you a multitude of things to choose from every single night.

See you out and about.
