Volunteers Needed
City of Santa Fe's Eviction Prevention Fair
City of Santa Fe’s Eviction Prevention Fair
March 5, 2022
Genoveva Chavez Center
3221 Rodeo Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507
The City of Santa Fe and the First Judicial Access to Justice Committee seek attorney volunteers who can advise local tenants at risk of eviction. Local advocacy group, Chainbreaker Collective, estimates that as many as 5,700 Santa Fe renter households are facing eviction in Santa Fe.

The New Mexico Supreme Court’s stay of evictions for the nonpayment of rent expires sometime in March. See the most recent order here. The pandemic has affected all of us, but especially renters with lower incomes who are likely to be the most impacted when the moratorium ends.

We need your help to address the legal needs of these New Mexican renters who are facing eviction.

The Eviction Prevention Clinic will be held on Saturday, March 5th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (MT) at the Genoveva Chavez Community Center. Attorneys are asked to arrive at 10:30 a.m.

There will be an online CLE provided by New Mexico Legal Aid at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 4 on the subject of Landlord Tenant law for attorneys who are volunteering.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide pro bono service during a time of great need. Local partners, including Life Link, and the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness will be present to help people apply for rental assistance funds. Additional community partners supporting this event include Somos un Pueblo Unido, Chainbreaker Collective and EarthCare.

If you are available to volunteer, please CLICK HERE and fill out the Attorney Volunteer Registration Form.
