This means that there is a tax credit that makes your donation to our #MoreThanAMeal Delivery Program for homebound cancer patients FULLY deductible (up to $400 for individuals and $800 for couples) on your Arizona tax return.

There is no doubt that tax time can be stressful but April is also our favorite month of the year because it is National Volunteer Month! We do our best to celebrate the incredible folks who keep our programs functioning all year round but April is a fantastic time to shine a little extra light their way and try to show them just how much they are appreciated!

This month we want to highlight a very special volunteer who has literally helped out in every area of our organization. The amazing Dora Cagnetto shows up every week to make sure that families affected by cancer, who would not otherwise have access to fresh and nutritious meals, receive beautiful food and all the love we have to give. She makes our work possible through her loving deliveries to patients and Banner Desert Medical Center in the East Valley.

Gratitude for our Community

Our team is so grateful for the administration and students at Mercury Mine Elementary School for inviting us to their Spring Fling. The kids helped by decorating our delivery bags which will be sure to brighten the spirits and mean the world to the families that we serve each week. The great folks at Copper Hills Church held their annual car show with a great turnout and graciously designated our organization as the beneficiary for funds raised that day. So beautiful! The Joy Bus #RestaurantCommunityProgram continued with some fantastic partners - Perfect Pear Bistro and BirdCall - both served up delicious food in support of the meal delivery services we provide to families experiencing cancer and we are so thankful for their support.

It was such a treat to join the Board of Visitors for their Annual Grants Celebration and especially to be counted in their grantees. And we have so much gratitude for each and every one of you who donated to The Joy Bus for #AZGivesDay 2023! While we didn't quite hit our goal for the day, the love that was poured out was such a beautiful thing to see.

The Joy Bus has been very fortunate the last couple of months to be included in and beneficiary for some phenomenal events throughout the Valley. In February, we were so honored to join Vanessa Ramirez in her annual Breathe 2 Believe Fundraiser in memory of her father and his battle with lung cancer and two of our wonderful volunteers, Mike & Frankie, kept the fun going and the funds raising at the Arizona Wine Garden Party.

March kicked off with the best female chefs and restaurateurs in Arizona gathering for the Gold.Glamour.Gourmet celebration and just a couple of days later got the opportunity to spend the day with Phoenix Magazine and a great group of community volunteers at Dish Fest 2023. The Joy Bus crew set up a booth and hung out with some of our very best friends (and original supporters) at PhxAM benefitting their nonprofit organization Cowtown S.K.A.T.E, and came together with Arizona's culinary and beverage leaders at the Desert Botanical Gardens for Devour 2023.
