Plan Ahead for Your Next Water Heater – Get $3,000-$4,000 Rebates for a Limited Time

Planning ahead can save you time and money. From September 1 through October 31, 2026, when you replace a gas water heater with a heat pump water heater, we are offering a $500 limited-time bonus on top of your rebate—up to $3,000 for all customers or up to $4,000 for income-eligible households.

Not sure how old your water heater is? Read our blog, Is Your Water Heater Getting Old?, to learn when it may be time to replace it and how to plan.

San José Renters: We Want to Hear from You

San José Clean Energy is developing a new program to help renters access energy-efficient heat pumps—one portable unit that can keep homes cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

If you rent your home in San José, we invite you to take our survey! Your feedback will help us better understand your heating and cooling needs and shape a program that works for our community.

Set It and Forget It! Earn up to $240 in Enrollment Bonuses with Your Smart Device

Fall is a great time to find easy ways to save money on your energy bill— and with SJCE’s Peak Rewards for Smart Homes, you can earn an enrollment bonus of up to $240 and save even more by letting your smart technology do the work for you.

Enroll your eligible smart devices (smart thermostat, electric vehicle, and home battery) → Let your technology automatically respond during Peak Rewards events → Earn enrollment bonuses and bill credits

We will let you know when an event is happening, but there’s no need to remember to take action each time. Once enrolled, your smart technology helps you participate automatically, making it an easy, set-it-and-forget-it way to save energy and earn rewards.

Save Up to $3,000 with EV Instant Rebates and Up to $6,500 by Stacking California’s MyFirstEV Rebate

Save when you buy. Save when you drive. Effective September 15, income-qualified San José Clean Energy customers can get up to $3,000 off a new EV or $1,750 off a used EV when buying or leasing a qualifying electric vehicle. You may be able to save even more by combining our rebate with California’s MyFirstEV program for up to $6,500 off a new EV and $3,500 off a used EV. If you received a rebate code before September 15, 2026, you do not need to reapply; you’ll receive the updated rebate amount at the dealership.

Not sure if you’re eligible? Half of San José residents may qualify.

Meet Wyatt the Watt Saver!

We are excited to introduce Wyatt the Watt Saver, our second children’s coloring and activity book. Designed for children ages 5-8, Wyatt teaches kids simple ways to save electricity at home while taking on sneaky “energy vampires” — devices that use energy even when they’re not being used.

Through a fun story, coloring pages and activities, young readers learn that small actions like turning off lights and electronics can save electricity. Families can meet Wyatt and pick up a copy at upcoming community events.
