We’d like to tell you a story about Lina.
Lina is a middle schooler and participant in YWCA-NYC’s Out of School Time program (OST). She is one of over 1500 students across NYC who each year join the YWCA-NYC in after-school enrichment and summer programming.
With YWCA-NYC, Lina has been part of Adventures in Peace Keeping, an Out of School Time (OST) program, which teaches girls how to stand up for themselves and engage in conflict resolution, such as by making posters and protesting peacefully.
Lina has learned that community means needing one another.
“When we feel safe we speak up,” says Lina. “And speaking up makes us stronger. We stand up for each other. We need each other. We learn from one another. This makes us stronger together.”
This Giving Tuesday, make a gift to YWCA-NYC. The YWCA-NYC has been dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering youth because we believe our collective efforts can transform the lives of Lina and her classmates. We need youth like Lina to know how powerful they are.
