Good afternoon Kristin,
This week, I want to express my gratitude to the community at St. Alphonsus Parish and School for their pivotal role as a founding partner in the formation of the Innovative Housing Project. I am excited to share that today this project was highlighted in an article in the National Catholic Reporter.
Thanks to the generous support of the Southhall Innovation Fund, facilitated by the Fulcrum Foundation, and the coordination and “soil tilling” of Kelly Surapaneni, this project came to fruition last year. Currently, it provides support for five individuals who are actively serving our schools and church here in western Washington. Building upon the successes and insights gained from this initial phase, we are now seeking to extend the reach of this program to three additional communities: on the Eastside, in Tacoma, and in South Seattle/South King.
Many of us have experienced the transformative power of living in intentional community through programs such as PACE, ACE, JVC, and others. We recognize the profound impact of living with other individuals who share a common mission, and the invaluable support that emerges within these sacred spaces.
To ensure the continued growth of this program, we need more participants. I invite you to help promote this opportunity in your recruitment and hiring of new teachers and by sharing with those who have recently begun their service within the archdiocese. As we witness the ongoing success of the program, we remain committed to exploring avenues for its expansion into other regions.

As we embark on this Lenten journey, please know that my prayers are with each of you and your communities. May we journey together toward the freedom that only God can bestow.
With gratitude,
NICHOLAS FORD | Superintendent
Office for Catholic Schools | Archdiocese of Seattle
