of the Nevada-Utah Conference of Seventh-day Adventists
from NUC President Leon B. Brown, Sr.
‘ Walking Safely Through the Red Sea ’

God gave His servant, Moses, one of the clearest directives I have ever seen given by God in Exodus 14:15-17.  “…Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground…”

These instructions are crystal clear: “Stop crying out to me and get going.”  While it is absolutely true that we should agonize and wrestle with God in prayer to determine His will, there are times when God tells His children to just get up and go. Accompanying this directive, God provided Moses and the people with a visible manifestation of His presence, power and glory in Exodus 14:19,20.

Everyone reading this should know exactly what God’s command means on a personal level, or else should be wrestling and praying with God over anything that requires immediate attention. The result of Moses’ and the children of Israel’s decision to move forward was a faith-builder.  “…When the people of Israel saw the mighty power that the Lord had unleashed against the Egyptians, they were filled with awe before Him. They put their faith in the Lord…”  (vs.31).

Remember, that just because you may be interacting with your local church from home, does not mean that you cannot turn in your tithes and offerings. There are still several ways to remain faithful to God in these unique circumstances:
  • Give online - by now your church should have a link to online giving on their website. If you have trouble finding the link, please contact your pastor. Click to watch an English/Spanish in-depth video tutorial of how to give online if this is something new for you. For answers to questions about AdventistGiving, please visit the AdventistGiving FAQ page.
  • Mail a check to your church.
  • Check with your church to find out if there are other options such as a drop off site or having it picked up.

Please continue to pray for our health and safety—and for all those who are personally impacted by this virus. Your prayerful support is a critical factor in the overall health of our churches and the communities we serve.

It is our prayer that in this time of social distancing we will draw together spiritually, as one body in Christ and as a united Nevada-Utah Conference family.
