Wonder what's going on with Phase 3 and the Town Center? Here are the updated documents that Century Communities will present to the Planning Commission on April 10. The mission of PREG is to share information with as many folks as possible, so we can each form our own opinions - feel free to pass these links along.

The Specific Plan and Pattern Book are both updates of the previous plans, organized for easy compare/contrast. The Memo contains an Executive Summary of the project. Here are the links:

Planning Commission of the County of Monterey, State of California will hold a public hearing to consider taking action on the project described below. The hearing will be held on

Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at the hour of 9:00 a.m.

In addition to attending in person, public participation will be available by electronic and/or telephonic means. The agenda for the Planning Commission meeting will provide information on how the public may observe and provide testimony telephonically, electronically, or in person in the County of Monterey Board of Supervisors’ Chambers, Government Center, 168 West Alisal Street,

Salinas, CA, 93901. At least 72 hours ahead of the meeting, the agenda will be posted at 168 West Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901 and on the County website at the following address:

Speaking at a Meeting

If you'd like to speak at the Planning Commission, here's some advice from others who have spoken at county meetings:

• There is usually a time limit. Have a 3 minute (and a 2 minute) speech ready
• Stay on topic: if the agenda is on Phase X then your opinion about Phase Y is not really relevant
• Make your points clear and simple

We're keeping an ear out for updates on the library. Remember it will be a Monterey County Free Library, just like our bookmobile. That means open to anyone, resident or visitor. A county library in our neighborhood will mean even more folks stopping by for a treat at the Town Center before or after picking up their books!
