Dear friends,

We have been blessed by some beautiful weather for outdoor events the past two weekends! Our Sept 27 event with the SGI Buddhists was the lead story in last week's national e-newsletter from the Paulist Fathers! The Blessing of the Animals and Oktoberfest events, both on Oct 3, were fantastic. We pray for no precipitation but cooler weather this weekend for those running the Chicago Marathon. Speaking of the marathon, please remember:

  • We'll bless runners at the 5 pm Sat Vigil Mass.
  • Michigan Ave will be closed to car traffic for the 8:30 am & 11 am Sunday Masses.
  • We'll provide coffee, donuts, and free restrooms for anyone who wants to cheer on runners from our sidewalk 9:30 am - 2 pm. The Knights of Columbus will sell Tootsie Rolls to benefit Ray Graham Training Center.

Between the Marathon and the federal holiday, this is traditionally the slowest weekend at OSM for the fall. But be sure to check the graphics below for some of the other events coming up later this month!

If you haven't checked out the new Old St. Mary's website, we highly recommend it. Here are several useful features on this easy-to-navigate site:

  • You can click on any upcoming event to add it to your preferred calendar app.
  • Learn how to get involved in many of our ministries. Trained liturgical ministers can sign up to serve at a specific Mass.
  • Photo albums from some recent events.

Blessings, friends! It's a great time to be part of the Old St. Mary's community!
