Unfortunately New Canaan's Holiday Season will look a lot different this year. The Holiday Stroll, which was scheduled for Friday December 4th under the lights on Elm Street has been cancelled per state guidelines prohibiting large public gatherings.

The good news is that many of our traditions will remain intact!

  1. Starting the week of Thanksgiving the Holiday lights will be shining in the downtown trees. Please consider donating or join us at J. McLaughlin this weekend where a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Holiday lights campaign.
  2. The Lampposts will be decorated with garland and white lights. Your family or business can purchase a lamppost as a way to share your enthusiasm for our beautiful downtown.
  3. The Gingerbread Houses will be in over 80 store windows starting December 1st. Please check the Chamber Website on the morning of Wednesday, November 18th for a link to sign up for your family to pick up a kit sponsored by Halstead. In order to provide a socially distant distribution, kits will be reserved online on Wednesday November 18th and will be handed out via a contactless drive up distribution event at Halstead Realty (183 Elm Street) on Friday November 20th.
  4. Santa will be in New Canaan on Saturday, December 5th. Details are being worked out for a safe and socially-distant photo opportunity with the man in the red suit!

Stay tuned for details about a virtual stroll inside some of New Canaan's stores that will take place throughout the month of December!

This year, after undergoing expert restoration, the Museum’s doll collection along with several vintage toys will be exhibited as part of Christmas Playtime at the Mansion, an exhibition that will recreate those playful times during the Victorian era.

The first floor of the Mansion will feature Christmas trees decorated with period-appropriate ornaments, a dining table adorned with dazzling antique silver and china, several playful dolls and toy vignettes, and sumptuous Victorian gowns curated by Stacey Danielson, with generous loans from the Wilton Historical Society.
