Newly elected president George Washington set out to visit the new nation aware that he was the singular unifying figure in America. The journey's finale was the Southern Tour, starting in March 1791. The long and arduous trek from the capital, Philadelphia, passed through seven states and the future Washington, D.C. But the focus was on Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia. The president kept a rigorous schedule, enduring rugged roads and hazardous water crossings. His highly anticipated arrival in each destination was celebrated with countless teas, parades, dinners and dances. Author Warren Bingham reveals the history and lore of the most beloved American president and his survey of the newly formed southern United States.

Join us for the 2nd Annual Art Market.

Shop from an array of various forms of art - all donated from local artists and community members. This event allows the community to purchase unique artwork at a variety of prices well below value, making art accessible to some who may otherwise not be able to afford it. Since all pieces are donated, this event also helps raise funds for Alamance Arts to help support our mission.

Donations are still being accepted and are tax deductible. If interested in donating, you can bring donations by during normal operating hours - Monday thru Saturday, 9am - 5pm.

The Haw River Trail, Haw River Canoe & Kayak Company, and Alamance Parks proudly present the 2024 Trailathlon. The Trailathlon is an Alamance County one-of-a-kind event. This event combines paddling, cycling, and running into one amazing race. This untimed event is an excellent opportunity to challenge your family and friends.
