KUDOS

The Health Resources and Services Administration has issued a $1.9M grant for Stanford to lead the EMS-specific node for the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) with Manish Shah, MD as PI and Bella Triolo as nodal administrator. Kudos to Lisa Jack, Kalsang Lhamo, Maggie Le-Chuong, and Roxanne Dirain for their work on the grant submission.


Angela Lumba-Brown, MD was recognized for her expertise in neuroscience and was appointed to the NIH NINDS Common Data Elements for Traumatic Brain Injury Workgroup.   


Congratulations to Moon Lee, MD for passing the extremely rigorous exam to become a specialist boarded in Clinical Informatics.

 

Stefanie Sebok-Syer, PhD received the Scholar Merit Award for her oral presentation at the 2025 Asian Pacific Medical Education Conference in Singapore.

TEAM SIGNOUT PILOT EXPANDING TO CARDINAL & DELTA

Based on positive feedback on Bravo Team Sign Out, we will be expanding next to Cardinal and Delta Zones. When gearing up for signout, be sure to: 

1.   Invite ED staff in the zone to join.

2.   Place a sign in fishbowl doorway of Cardinal or by the desk in Delta to indicate signout is in process  

3.   Start with introductions

4.   Invite RNs to provide updates on their assigned beds after each patient. We welcome any feedback via this link or QR codes in the zone!                   


NEW COMPARTMENT PRESSURES DEVICE

There is a new device in the Emergency Department for measuring compartment pressures - Compass Universal. Please see this video for instructions on use if unfamiliar.        

ACADEMIC AFFAIRS DIRECTOR

OPPORTUNITY

The department is expanding the Academic Affairs (AA) team to include two AA Directors to support our growing faculty and their achievements. The AA Directors will work with the AA team and assist with activities related to academic affairs, including but not limited to: 

  • Appointment, reappointment, and promotion 
  • Faculty recruitment 
  • Annual faculty review 
  • Awards nominations
  • Other Academic Affairs duties as determined by the VC for AA


Successful candidates will have experience in leadership and program management. Desired qualities include: team-oriented, meticulous attention to detail, ability to work well under pressure, desire to see others succeed, patience, and encouraging nature. Desired qualifications: Associate Professor or Professor rank (all lines) preferred. Clinical offload and other considerations will be determined based on experience and degree of committed time to the role.

The department is hosting the premiere screening of I’m Still Here, Love, a documentary exploring health misinformation through the stories of families of three unvaccinated men who died of COVID-19. After the premiere, a Q&A with the director and featured families will follow led by Dr. Mike Gisondi, who is also featured in the film.
