Always Striving to Learn More
This morning a group of us attended a forum on asset management and capital planning at Pattern for Progress in Newburgh. The City of Beacon shared their proactive approach to capital planning, and we also heard from Comptroller DiNapoli's office on best practices for municipalities across the state.
Learning from the success of other municipalities is an effective way to continue to improve village operations. Also, it was reassuring to view our approach in the context of today's presentation and recognize the wisdom of many of our current practices which have kept the village in a strong financial position.
Last week's legislative session included a resolution to apply to the NYS DEC's Urban and Community Forestry Grant Program for funding support in planting trees in Nelson Park and Nelson Sitting Park. These are heavily utilized parks that have sustained some tree damage in recent years. The Village has had a big year for grant applications, so let's keep our fingers crossed.
