Celebrating our nation's independence reminds us of something else worth celebrating—the power of community.
This July, One Mission Cambridge proudly marks four years of neighbors helping neighbors. As you browse this month's newsletter, you'll see the many ways our community continues to come together through generosity, compassion, and service.
Thank you for helping us make a difference every day.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT:
Marianne & Fran Maye

Marianne:
Fran and I permanently moved to the Cambridge from Kennett Square, PA in 2023. We were actively involved in volunteering in the Kennett community. To meet new friends and give back to our new community we chose One Mission!
I usually choose a 3 or 4 hour volunteer shift. The best part is meeting the guests and helping them shop from the pantry. But it's also an opportunity to find out a little about someone who I don't ordinarily encounter in my week. I often get told "Have a blessed day" from the guests as they leave. Who couldn't use more blessings?
I enjoy being around all the people who work and visit One Mission. Krista, Shelly and the team are so cheerful and upbeat! The fellow volunteers are interesting and kind. And the guests are appreciative and interactive! The vibe at One Mission makes the shift easy work!

Fran:
As a long-time member of Rotary International, One Mission looked to be a perfect fit for me, and it is. Rotary's motto is "Service Above Self," and for more than a decade during my professional career as a newspaper editor, I enjoyed working on projects that helped people in the community.
I sleep better knowing I help others who are struggling. I have been blessed during my life with a supportive family, a loving wife and now I want to do what I can to help out in whatever way I can. It gives me great satisfaction knowing I am making a difference for people in our community.
I often get into spirited conversations with clients at One Mission to gain a deeper perspective into some of the challenges they face. Sometimes it's an unexpected health issue that sets them back, other times it boils down to sheer bad luck. One day they are making ends meet, and often through no fault of their own, they are homeless or in need of help. That's where One Mission comes in, and that's where I want to be, because honestly, any of us could be in this position if misfortune hits.
Together, we are creating hope, strengthening community, and transforming lives.
