GFC’S COMMUNITY IN ACTION
Steadfast in preserving their daughter's legacy, Kevin and Kym Jones successfully participated in GFC’s inaugural JAX Golf Marathon. Raising over $10,000 in memory of Ava Grace, who passed away in 2023 after a brave battle with rare pediatric cancer, the Joneses remain committed to supporting other families walking the same difficult journey.
Nonprofit leaders Lauren Federico (left) and Abby Pastyrnak (middle) have gone above and beyond in support of our Golf Marathon events. Raising over $225,000 for their respective orgs in the 2024 Golf Marathon and mentoring first-time participants in the JAX Golf Marathon, these two exemplify collaboration across the cancer community.
Inspired by the strength and bravery displayed by their grandparents during their cancer journey, brothers Robbie & Matt McDonough completed the 2024 Maine Marathon and successfully raised $4,000 to assist other families facing this disease. We salute these young leaders for finding their own creative challenge to benefit the greater GFC community.
If you know Bill McHugh, you know all about Golf Fights Cancer! As one of our mission’s best ambassadors, Bill takes every opportunity to raise awareness about GFC’s impact. Participating in his sixth Golf Marathon, Bill and his honorary caddie, son Will, raised $23,000 from more than 150 donors! Bill’s genuine care and concern for those facing cancer is unmatched.

PEDIATRIC CANCER RESEARCH
|
When a child is diagnosed with DIPG, their family quickly learns a horrifying reality. This deadliest form of cancer currently has no long-term treatment options. The Kavalieros Family, their community of supporters, and GFC are determined to change this!
Proceeds from the 9th Good Guys Good Gals Invitational (The Ellie) are being directed to the University of Florida (UF Health) to fund the work of Dr. Duane Mitchell and Dr. Catherine Flores and their Next Gen Stem Cell Immunotherapy for Pediatric Gliomas Project.
| |
As many scientists have made clear, this research is so important, as solving DIPG is believed to hold the key to curing ALL types of cancer. We couldn't think of a better legacy in Ellie's memory!

The financial burden of cancer treatment is a harsh reality for too many, with over 800,000 patients annually facing the tough choice between paying for treatment or meeting basic needs.
Marisa's Mission offers a lifeline for patients and families facing the disease - at any age, with any cancer, and at any stage of treatment.
Funding from Golf Fights Cancer ensured resources were available to provide more than 60 families with deep financial assistance. Over 70% of funding was used to stabilize housing, preventing foreclosures and evictions during the most difficult stages of treatment.

From Hawaiian excursions, once-in-a-lifetime Caribbean cruises, and VIP Disney/Orlando experiences to concerts and ultimate shopping extravaganzas, these patients and families will be forever impacted by the power of a dream and the comforting knowledge that people in their community care.

Driven by the personal commitment and collective effort of golfers and runners who have become like family, Golf Fights Cancer granted $445,000 toward cutting-edge Glioblastoma research at The Center for Neuro-Oncology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI).
Funding is being directed to research focused on immunotherapy and precision medicine breakthroughs in treatment options, providing HOPE to patients and families affected by this aggressive cancer, which currently has no cure.

A significant milestone in our organization's history, GFC has surpassed $1 Million invested in Glioblastoma research at DFCI since 2016 through The Virginia Hood Dreier Fund, The Warn Family Fund, and The David Hovey CRUS11TOUR Fund.

As a known leader and connector within the cancer community, our team continues to receive a significant increase in grant requests. Many established programs serving vulnerable populations — pediatric cancer families, the elderly, and lower-income households — are currently experiencing funding deficits.
In the spirit of the giving season, we ask you to consider a year-end donation. Together, we can respond by making an immediate difference where it is needed most!
