Meet November featured artist: Samantha Durfee.

Samantha is one of our newest members. She works in a variety of media including gouache, charcoal, printmaking and scanography. In her own words:

"I create art for several reasons. I enjoy creating even if it is something only I enjoy. Art pauses my worry about taking care of my mom and hopefully prevents me from getting dementia. I work in different mediums from gouache painting, charcoals, printmaking and scanography.

I plan out my pieces by researching and looking at multiple images and use of symbolism. I sketch several versions before starting the final piece, always adding to a piece while working on it. I do not know how it will end.

Lately I have been working on art with hares/rabbits in it. Part of this is because I love nature living in a rural area. We have lots of wildlife around us to draw inspiration from."

Samantha is currently working on a detailed woodcut print of a fox and mouse. She also has two pieces in our exhibition "Her Signature" at Main Street Studios.
