THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON

May 13–17, 2026

Houston’s art scene is fully in late-spring overdrive this week. In addition to a packed schedule of exhibition openings on Saturday, film lovers have plenty to choose from.

Don’t miss Wednesday’s free screening of the Cuban music biopic El Benny, part of a monthly film series curated by artist XZZX at Equal Parts Brewing.

The Houston Cinema Arts Society launches its The Future is Female series with screenings of Puddysticks and REELING this week (plus Dreams in Nightmares next week).

Meanwhile, the River Oaks Theatre offers two Saturday screenings of the documentary Steal This Story, Please! featuring Amy Goodman (who will be in attendance), along with a Sunday night screening of Stephen King’s classic film Misery, paired with a post-film discussion featuring actors Elizabeth Bunch and Chris Hutchison.

What are your plans? Hope to see you out and about.
