RANGER CHECKPOINT

November 2024

Editor: Molly Stringham

A Message from the Chairman:

Fellow Rangers –

The National Ranger Memorial Foundation continues to improve YOUR memorial. In the last 30 days, thanks to our Executive Director, Blair Brown, we replaced our old inoperable and unsightly stone locator with a brand new 3-ton, granite locator. This new locator has a QR code which can be scanned to find a Ranger’s stone. It also includes a QR code for on-the-spot stone purchases and donations.

As Giving Tuesday approaches, our campaign is underway. I would ask you to consider donating to the foundation to facilitate the upkeep of the memorial and help Rangers and their families with academic scholarships. Remember, year-end donations are tax deductible. Please click here to give:

Calling all Rangers and Friends of the Rangers!

The Federal Court hearing, regarding our lawsuit aimed at restoring Colonel John S. Mosby's rightful place in the Ranger Hall of Fame at the National Ranger Memorial, will be on 12 December at the U.S. District Court in Columbus, GA.

Your presence is pivotal in preserving our shared history, and we hope you can join us! Together we can work to ensure that the valor and contributions of Colonel Mosby and Rangers of ALL eras are remembered and respected now and in the future.

Below are some happenings from around our Ranger communities. Anything going on in your area that you'd like to share? Send details to Blair@RangerMemorial.org or Molly@RangerMemorial.org, and we'll do our best to announce it in next the Ranger Checkpoint.

In a recent training exercise in Palau, Rangers from the 75th Ranger Regiment jumped in to seize a Pacific airbase, preparing for war with China. Read more from The Telegraph UK: US Airborne Rangers Parachute

Members of the Indiana Rangers 151st Infantry (Airborne) Battalion dedicate a new memorial recognizing their service in Vietnam. Read more from the Greenfield Reporter: Vietnam Rangers Monument

Joe Stringham, Troy Webb, and Pat Kelley at USARA's Ranger Base Kinney earlier this month. A hearty thank-you to Art "Doc" Attaway and the 75th RRA for their generous gift of a saber, which was raffled off and raised $502. The proceeds were donated to the National Ranger Memorial Foundation. Your support and dedication to the Ranger community are truly appreciated!

We are thrilled to reveal the Ranger monument's new stone locator! Columbus Monument Company did an exceptional job installing this 6,000-pound solid marble stand. It's secured with steel rods embedded deeply into the ground for added stability and durability. The entire process took about 3 hours and once completed, someone came up and used it right away!

If you stop by, be sure to tag us in your pics @nationalrangermemorial
