Emergency Winter Shelter Update
We are now two months (halfway) into the Emergency Winter Shelter season, and with persistent cold temperatures, the need for safe, warm overnight shelter continues to be critical.
In December and January, the shelter saw 86 unique guests each month, with a total of 2,141 total visits. For comparison, the entire 2024-2025 winter shelter had 3,014 total visits.
This season to date, 40 dedicated volunteers have contributed 235 hours to support shelter operations—helping ensure the shelter runs smoothly night after night despite challenging winter conditions and consistently high numbers of guests.
Volunteers support CCEH staff by assisting with guest check-ins, assigning beds, helping guests store belongings, and providing general supervision. Their commitment is essential not only to daily operations, but to maintaining a calm, respectful environment during periods of extended cold.
There is still time to get involved this season. We are deeply grateful to everyone who helps keep the Emergency Winter Shelter running safely and compassionately, night after night. Volunteers can view available shifts and sign up through CCEH's POINT volunteer page.
