| | State of the County Celebrates Route 66 Legacy and Looks to the Road Ahead | | San Bernardino County public and private sector leaders and stakeholders gathered to celebrate 100 years of Route 66 and to learn about key industries and organizations leading the way in 2026 and beyond. | |
San Bernardino County celebrated its rich history while looking toward the future at the 2026 State of the County on October 8. This year’s “Get Your Kicks” theme marked the 100th anniversary of Route 66 and highlighted the people, businesses, and institutions that have helped shape the county over generations. From longtime community anchors such as San Bernardino Valley College and Stater Bros. Markets to growing industries in aviation, health care, and technology, the program showcased the innovation, investment and workforce that continue to drive the region forward. Click here to view the entire State of the County program.
Route 66 provided a fitting backdrop for that story. When the Mother Road was established a century ago, it opened new connections between communities, brought travelers and visitors through the region, supported local businesses, and helped create new economic opportunities along the way. Today, San Bernardino County is once again experiencing a transformation in how people and goods move through the region – one that is creating new opportunities for travel, tourism, business, and economic growth.
That evolution can be seen at Cucamonga Station, where the Station Partners are working together to strengthen connections among rail, transit, and air travel. Just as Route 66 helped connect San Bernardino County to new destinations and opportunities 100 years ago, today's transportation investments are helping shape the next chapter of connectivity and growth for the region.

| | Thousands Come to Region for Route 66 Cruisin’ Reunion | |
GOCAL’s two-day Cruisin’ Reunion weekend was a fantastic celebration, bringing together thousands of local car enthusiasts, families and visitors in support of “The Garage” at the Historic Cucamonga Service Station. Now in its 13th year, the Cruisin' Reunion has grown into an annual destination that celebrates Historic Route 66's enduring role in shaping travel, transportation, and community life across the region for a century.
This year's reunion was the biggest one yet, putting a spotlight on the nationwide centennial celebration of Route 66 while continuing to draw visitors who support local businesses and boost the region's economy.
As part of the centennial celebration, special morning kickoff events were held in Rancho Cucamonga on Friday, September 18, to raise funds for building "The Garage" educational center at the historic Cucamonga Service Station. This included a Pancake Breakfast at the Rancho Cucamonga Sports Center hosted by the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, and a Poker Run that featured five designated stops along Historic Route 66 / Foothill Boulevard.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make this special weekend such a success! Watch a recap of all the amazing highlights from this year’s Cruisin’ Reunion.
| | ONT Earns National Recognition for Travelers and Employees Alike While Investing in Continued Growth | | ONT ranks second in latest JD Power Study and Great Place to work certification for the fourth consecutive year. | |
Ontario International Airport (ONT) is proving that a great airport experience starts with a great workplace. For the second year in a row, ONT ranked No. 2 among all medium-sized airports in the J.D. Power 2026 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, which evaluates travelers across seven categories including ease of travel through the airport, terminal facilities, airport staff, and food, beverage and retail options. ONT posted the top score nationwide in two of those categories: arrival experience and overall passenger trust.
Just weeks earlier, the airport earned its fourth consecutive Great Place to Work certification, with 93% of employees saying ONT is a great place to work, well above the national average, based on a survey measuring trust, pride and camaraderie across the workforce. Together, the two honors point to the same throughline: an airport built and run by people who take pride in the experience they create, for travelers and colleagues alike. Read more in ONT's J.D. Power ranking release and its Great Place to Work certification release.
Beyond its recent accolades, ONT is also making the travel experience smoother on the ground. ONT recently launched Bus Genius, a new real-time shuttle tracking system that lets travelers scan QR codes posted at shuttle stops, Travelers Aid stations or on flyOntario.com to see exactly where their shuttle is and when it will arrive. Each shuttle is now equipped with GPS-enabled tracking technology that also helps drivers regulate timing and prevent multiple buses from bunching up at the same stop, one more way ONT is using smart technology to cut down on guesswork and wait times for travelers. Read more in ONT's shuttle tracking announcement.
ONT’s progress extends to passenger travel, cargo activity, and clean-energy investment in 2026. This year, ONT surpassed 4 million passengers through the first seven months of 2026, up 1.3% over the same period last year, with international travel climbing nearly 37% even as international travel to the U.S. faces broader headwinds nationally. Air cargo volumes are growing right alongside passenger traffic, up 7% year-to-date, reinforcing ONT's expanding role as a logistics hub for the Inland Empire.
Supporting that expansion, the airport also secured its largest-ever VALE grant from the FAA, nearly $4.15 million and its third such award in three years, to fund new electric ground support equipment charging stations at Terminals 2 and 4 and further reduce emissions as operations continue to scale. Read more in ONT's July passenger and cargo report and its VALE grant announcement.
