Morningside Elementary Receives Band Grant

During their weekly Friday assembly, Morningside Elementary celebrated being the recipients of the Orange County Philharmonic Society's Strike Up the Band grant! The grant was awarded to 13 schools this year including 4 schools in GGUSD. Morningside students were thrilled to receive 12 violins, 8 violas, 2 cellos, and 1 euphonium! This donation will be instrumental in providing more students with an opportunity to participate in band and orchestra programs at the school. Other GGUSD schools to receive Strike Up the Band grants this year include Alamitos and Lake intermediate schools and Garden Grove High School.

Palomino Elementary Celebrates Its Namesake's Legacy

It was a sea of red at Frank and Irene Palomino Elementary School's Friday Flag Ceremony today as students and staff proudly wore their brand-new school shirts, made possible through a generous donation from the Palomino family!

The celebration was made even more special as members of the Palomino family joined students and staff to share words of inspiration and celebrate the school community that now proudly carries their family's name.

Frank and Irene Palomino were among the courageous families who fought to end school segregation in California through the landmark Mendez et al v. Westminster et al case. Their legacy of courage, equality, and opportunity continues to inspire new generations of students.

We are incredibly grateful to the Palomino family for their generosity, continued involvement, and commitment to making every student feel proud to be part of the Palomino Elementary family!
