A Message from the Headmaster
Dear Archway Trivium Families,
I have really enjoyed being back on campus this week. When you last heard from me, it was an announcement of the birth of my baby girl. This week I have received well-wishes from all parts of our community. I’ve even heard “Congratulations!” from open windows as cars drive by during drop-off! It is such a joy to work with such a marvelous and generous and kind-hearted community! Thank you all for being who you are.
My message today is about secure attachment. John Bowlby’s work on attachment theory is tremendous, and is certainly among the most valuable scientific work of the 20th century. Lessons in the value of secure attachment were reiterated for me as I spent a good portion of a 10-day period simply holding and staring at my newborn daughter. I am a spirited worker by nature, so sitting and staring at anything is unusual for me. However, it wasn’t hard for me to resist engaging in “more productive” activity because I know how an infant and parent can imprint upon one another during the first days of life. Developing strong connections with our children is absolutely essential on levels far beyond those visible at present. That means taking time to truly behold them in their full personhood. Whatever silly thing is going on, time spent witnessing your child is always time well spent. Have a great weekend!
Heartily Devoted,
Clay Scott, Ed. D.

School Messenger Communication
Great Hearts and Archway Trivium continue to utilize the system School Messenger for emails, robo-calls, and text messaging to inform families of campus related academy emergencies and other communications. SchoolMessenger has a new automatic opt-in for text feature. During the registration/re-enrollment process families confirmed their wish to participate in text communications. Great Hearts will now automatically opt in contact information given during the registration/re-enrollment process with the options you selected. You will notice at the beginning of July you will be opted in for text messaging. If you would like to opt out of text messages simply reply STOP to the text from 67585. You can also enter the code 67585 with the message STOP to block any text messaging. Please note, if opting out, you will not receive texts regarding emergencies on campus.
Email Communications
If you know of parents who are not receiving these communications, please ask them to check their junk/promotions email folders, and then email bmcdonald@archwaytrivium.org for assistance.
You can also find ALL school-wide communications on our website on the Latest News page.
