14-year-old girl kicked off Porter flight to fend on her own

This is an utterly terrible story for Porter - an airline that usually cedes the area of bad publicity to Air Canada. A minor teenager was recently booted off a flight and left to fend for herself due to "weight and balance" issues on the plane.

Article excerpt: "The parents of a 14-year-old girl say they're outraged after their daughter was removed from a Porter Airlines flight last month and left to fend for herself for the next 24 hours - without compensation or supervision from airline staff.

Camryn Larkan was flying alone for only the second time on Aug. 30, headed home to Victoria, B.C., after visiting a friend and family in Toronto.

She boarded the plane and was sitting in her seat ready for take-off, when a flight attendant told her there was a problem. She needed to grab her bags and get off the aircraft.

'I was kind of just like really confused... I thought I was coming back to my seat. I thought that they were just going to take my bags,' Camryn said. 'As soon as I got off the plane and I saw that the door had closed, that's when I started to like get really anxious.'

Camryn said she later learned the plane took off without her and some other passengers due a weight imbalance. She was rebooked on a flight to Victoria at the same time the next day, and the airline sent her on her way. Her dad, who had brought her to the airport, rushed back to pick her up."

The airline's excuse? They thought she looked older and didn't even question her age. Perhaps a colour-coded ticket for unaccompanied minors would help in these situations.

Pretty - but is it practical? Check out this new high-end mixer with a wooden bowl.

If you're in the market for a beautiful $1,000 mixer, this is for you! If you want to waste $1,000 on a mixer, this is also for you.

I think it's really nice, but a wooden bowl? Oh c'mon. Wooden bowls are for salads and holding potato chips. They're not for being banged around with beaters for hours on end.

Article excerpt: "KitchenAid is a fan-favorite brand known for its reliable and innovative appliances. From rice cookers and espresso machines to the iconic stand mixer, the company meets the needs of chefs and home cooks alike. While we are still fawning over the brand's assortment of stand mixer attachments, the company has announced a new edition of their beautifully crafted Design Series Stand Mixers: Evergreen. And it's a showstopper!

The mixer is a deep forest green with a lush matte finish and features KitchenAid's first walnut wood bowl with a unique wood grain design - straying from the traditional stainless steel. Topped with a brass hub cover with a small leaf design, you'll feel like you're one with nature while mixing your next batch of cookie dough or buttercream frosting."

It's cute, but it's not practical. I just think you'd end up with splinters in your food. And how would whipped cream even work in this? This looks great, but it won't be on the market for long.

Contrary to what you've seen on social media, there are no purple apples in Saskatchewan

I saw this on Facebook and my spidey senses perked up immediately. Apples with absolutely perfect colour like that? It just screamed artificial intelligence to me - and I was right. (If the photo is too perfect, it's almost always AI.)

Article excerpt: "If something looks too good to be true, it might be.

That’s the message from Saskatchewan horticulturists after customers have come into their stores hoping to buy purple apple trees this month.

'We've had lots of apples that have been developed in Saskatchewan, but none of them are purple. They all have white flesh and red skin,' said Rachelle Hofmeister, a horticulturist at Dutch Growers in Regina.

Thanks to a viral image that shows purple apples said to 'originate from Saskatchewan,' some social media users are asking the questions: do purple apples exist and where can they get them?

The bright interior makes them 'prized ingredients, particularly in the creation of purple applesauce,' the post read."

Purple applesauce? I mean, c'mon.

Read: No, these viral purple apples don't exist in Saskatchewan.
