Antonio “Tony” Ferrante, AVP, Claims Risk Management – Corporate Risk at Sun Life, has been named the distinguished recipient of the International Claim Association’s (ICA) prestigious "Best of the ICA" award for 2023. The accolade was conferred during the ICA’s Annual Education Conference in 2023, a gathering that drew over 350 attendees representing professionals across various domains, including life, accident, health/medical, disability, workers’ compensation, technology, and fraud claims.

Established in 2021, the "Best of the ICA" award is a testament to individuals who consistently contribute to and support the ICA's mission. The selection criteria for the award encompass qualities such as character and integrity that align with the ICA’s ideals, serving as exemplary role models, leadership in acknowledging, coaching, and mentoring others, and dedicated service reflecting an individual’s commitment to the ICA.

Previous recipients of the "Best of the ICA" award include Frank Best (Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company) in 2021 and Richard Marquez (Diligence International Group) in 2022.

During the announcement, Kimberly Tomaselli, CPA, FLMI, ALHC, ARA, AVP Claims at Munich Re Life US and Immediate Past President of the ICA, commended Tony Ferrante, stating, "Anyone who has had the opportunity to work with Tony recognizes his calm and welcoming demeanor. These qualities were never more evident than during his two-year term as President, navigating the challenges of the COVID era. Tony effortlessly addressed the organizational challenges we faced, ensuring member engagement and presence."

ICA Executive Director Chris Murphy expressed, "There is no one more deserving of this award than Tony. Since joining the ICA in 1996, he has been a stalwart supporter in various capacities. His leadership roles include chairing the Annual Conference Team, Fraud Education Research Development Team, Nominating, Finance, Membership, and Marketing committees. Tony also served as President, steering the ICA from 2019 to 2021."

The "Best of the ICA" Award is an annual tribute presented to individuals who demonstrate outstanding service to the ICA, recognizing their unwavering commitment and contributions to the organization.
