Hello Fellow District 106 Toastmasters,

Can you believe we are in April? We are less than a month away from our District conference. We are excited to host you in Thunder Bay. It is not too late to book your spot to come up to Thunder Bay. We have a great program set up and you can cheer on the amazing speakers we have in our district.

What has your Toastmaster Journey brought this year? Have you completed educationals, participated in a speech contest, volunteered in a speech contest, signed up for a leadership role? I want you to reflect on the year so far and what you want to accomplish in the next 3 months. There is still a great amount of time to not only accomplish some of your goals but also to help your club be the best club it can be.

Let’s remember our challenge at the beginning of the year. If everybody could bring one guest — just one guest — this year, we would see huge growth in numbers. Clubs would be as strong as they can be heading into the next Toastmaster year.

Have you ever considered being an Area Director? We are looking for Area Directors for 2025-2026. There are many reasons to be an Area Director, which include but are not limited to:

  • Being able to see what other clubs in the Area are doing, possibly giving you some ideas for your club
  • Helping to achieve your DTM goal
  • Helping to make the area stronger
  • Taking on great challenges equal great rewards
  • Engaging in leadership training
  • Better understanding of the inner workings of Toastmasters
  • Helping fellow Toastmasters

If you are interested in discussing the Area Director role, please reach out to me at tm.matthew.villella@gmail.com.

If you are working on your DTM and you haven’t attended a DTM Alley, also reach out to me, I am happy to sit with you and go through what you need to submit your DTM. I am happy to help.

I am also interested in coming to any club that needs help with submitting their educational goals before June 30 and don’t understand the new Pathways program, I am willing to come in and do a presentation or tutor your club and help them achieve their goals.

Let’s finish the year off strong. If there is anything I can do to help you on your journey, please reach out.

Let’s Finish Strong — Growth Is in the Air!

Hello District 106 Family,

What an exciting journey this year has been — and it’s not over yet! As we approach the final stretch of our Toastmasters year, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible momentum we’re building across our district — and invite you to be part of something even bigger as we close out strong.

Clubs across District 106 have been showing inspiring resilience and creativity. From engaging open houses to successful membership drives, you are helping members grow in confidence, skill, and connection. But let’s not stop here.

Now is the time to amplify our impact.

Here are three key ways we can finish the year with energy and excellence:

  1. Host an open house: Open houses are a fantastic way to introduce new guests to our supportive Toastmasters environment. They bring energy to your club and show potential members the power of our program in action.
  2. Follow up with guests: If someone visited your club but didn’t join, it’s not too late! A simple follow-up message can reignite interest and turn a guest into a lifelong member.
  3. Pathways progress: Encourage your members to submit their completed Pathways projects. Not only does this contribute to club DCP goals, but it also helps members realize and celebrate their progress.

New Club Leads — Be Part of the Magic!

Our Club Growth Team is hard at work developing several exciting new club opportunities. These clubs are more than just meetings — they’re platforms for transformation:

  • Imagine the Possibilities Club – A unique and empowering club providing a platform for individuals with disabilities to grow their speaking and leadership potential.
  • Foodie Club – Where delicious conversations meet dynamic communication!
  • Entrepreneurial Club – Designed for dreamers, builders, and business minds who want to sharpen their pitch and storytelling skills.
  • Corporate Club – In the pipeline with a major company looking to build internal leaders.
  • MN DOT Club – Partnering with the Minnesota Department of Transportation to foster professional growth within the organization.
  • Terrace Bay Club – On the North Shore of Lake Superior that is getting ready to charter soon. Lots of excitement about this northernmost club.
  •

Each of these clubs represents a community ready to thrive — and you can be a part of their foundation.

Would you like to be a sponsor or mentor?

Sponsoring a club is a powerful way to give back, grow your leadership skills, and move one step closer to earning your DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster). Let me know if you’re interested — we’d love to have your support in building something lasting and meaningful.

Let’s keep the momentum going.

District 106 is growing, not just in numbers but in heart, vision, and opportunity. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished so far, and I know we can finish this year with strength and unity.

Let’s keep inspiring, connecting, and growing — one member, one club, one powerful story at a time.

Ashok Sunkavalli
