MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
Wow! I can’t believe how quickly November has appeared on our doorstep. October was an amazing month filled with beautiful fall foliage and super scary Halloween family events.

November is a busy time here in the Village. We've got Election Day, Veteran's Day, and Thanksgiving. For our municipality, November also means the kickoff of our 2022 Budget Review process. Every year we review the upcoming year's budgets for each department, including Ossining Fire Department, Ossining Police Department, and our Legal Department. The Village Board of Trustees looks at the past performance by those departments and requests from Village Management. It makes recommendations towards big picture initiatives that will enhance the Village over the next several years. We, of course, always keep our finger on the pulse regarding everyday ongoing infrastructure improvements, personnel needs, and quality of life enhancements. Out of everything the Trustees and I do all year, it is important to note that only the Board of Trustees votes on the annual budget. We take that responsibility on behalf of our residents and businesses very seriously. Meetings are open to the public - I encourage you to join us.

I am super proud of the work being done in our Village during 2021. We have passed the largest number of laws in a single year—more than any other administration. The clear purpose is to solve problems brought before us by our residents and businesses: some are code improvements, some are big picture ideas, and some are ways to improve how business is conducted in our Village by our many departments. All of this has been going on during a confluence of forces bigger than ourselves—a global pandemic that has hit our community with force, an environmental crisis like the recent flooding, institutional racism, and a continued push for our Village’s share of revenues and grants from the County, State, and Federal governments. Last week the Village Manager and BOT reviewed our agreed-upon slated initiatives and projects. Click here to see our priority list in detail.
Have you gotten your COVID-19 vaccine or booster yet? I am pleased to say that our Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps (OVAC) has administered over 4000 vaccines – and over 5000 tests to our community. I am so thankful for your commitment to service through these challenging times!

With that, OVAC has begun delivering Vaccine booster doses in their building located at 8 Clinton Ave in Ossining. Currently, they have all three Vaccines available. Vaccination days are Wednesdays and Fridays.

To see if you qualify for a booster, visit the CDC website -> https://www.cdc.gov/.../people-with-medical-conditions.html

If you have questions, you can reach OVAC at Covidtest@ossiningvac.org, 914-941-9196, or stop in their building 9AM - 4PM on vaccination days to speak with one of their personnel.

Have you cast your vote yet? If not, make your voice heard, as every single vote counts. The right to vote is something that I consider to be the cornerstone of being an American. Voting allows you to tell the government what you want and who you want to be a part of the decision-making process. You can make a difference. Remember that the clocks turn back an hour at 2 AM on Sunday, November 7th. That means you're going to need to reset all those gadgets in your house.
