Our Network is Ever Expanding!

New Respite for All communities continue to open across the country! We’re excited to welcome everyone who’s joining this national movement, including The Gathering which opened in late June at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, TN. Circle of Friends opened in July at The Church at Shalimar in Shalimar, FL, as did Care Collective in Boise, ID. August openings are planned for RFA communities in Kalispell, MT; Ocean Shores, WA; and Sandpoint, ID.

"Fun-Raising" with Mahjong Tournaments

Respite for All has been having great fun hosting Mahjong Tournaments in Montgomery. We held our very first tournament in July, and it was such a success that we immediately planned two more for August. Jennifer Trott joined our team last year to support our annual brain science luncheon, and she added the tournament series this year. It’s a great fit for providing community and keeping your brain healthy and engaged, and it is a perfect sport for Respite for All to adopt. We have two more tournaments scheduled for 5pm on August 6 and 12noon on August 7. Tickets are $100 to play, and all proceeds go to RFA. Email Jennifer Trott at Jennifer@RespiteforAll.org if you’d like to join in.

Sponsorships Still Available

Speaking of brain science, we’re thrilled to have a lot of new sponsors making plans to join us on October 9 for our 4th Annual Brain Science Luncheon, but we still have room for more! Be sure to get your table to come hear Lisa Genova, #1 International and New York Times bestselling author and neuroscientist. Get more details here.

Save the Date for Whirlwind 2026

RFA’s executive director, Daphne Johnston, has been fine-tuning the agenda for Whirlwind 2026, our annual training conference for directors and volunteers across the network. Save the dates March 1-March 3 and make plans to join us at Asbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham, AL.

In the meantime, we’re very excited to announce that one of our keynote presenters for Whirlwind 2026 will be Loretta Woodward Veney! Loretta’s engagement with her mom using LEGO bricks and her facilitation of LEGO Serious Play workshops for those with dementia and their caregivers resulted in the two of them being chosen as one of Robin Roberts Thriver Thursday recipients on Good Morning America. They were also featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and a PBS special.

Registration opens November 1, so stay tuned!
