The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Matthew 28:16-20


Holy Trinity! It's the one Sunday each year we focus on a foundational doctrine of our faith, the doctrine of the Trinity.  We will hear two of the readings where 'Father, Son and Spirit' or 'God, Jesus and Spirit' are mentioned in the same reading. Neither reading explains exactly what it means, though. Or maybe that is the point. Let's explore together this weekend!

Triune God, we give thanks for the creativity and imagination that is expressed in the Trinity. Help us to live out of that creativity as we proclaim Your Gospel of love.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

Worship is now happening downstairs in Fellowship Hall. You still enter through the front doors and either take the stairs or the elevator down to the basement. Service times will remain the same (Saturday at 5PM, Sunday at 9AM and 10:30AM). The 10:30AM service will continue to be livestreamed. The Nursery will remain open as well and welcomes children ages 1-5 years.

• Holy God, we are in awe of your creative work. Continue that work in your church, making us a new creation that proclaims your presence and love.
• Creator God, nature reveals your power and glory. Protect water sources, vegetation, and wildlife as reminders of who you are.
• Redeemer God, you call us to pray for those in authority. Guide our leaders to pursue the work of fostering peace and community.
• Sustaining God, you are mindful of your people in every circumstance. Heal those who are sick. Provide for all who hunger. Protect those in harm’s way. Comfort any experiencing hardship.
• Gracious God, we pray for the children of our church and community. Provide for their needs. Support their caregivers. Nurture their faith.
• Loving God, we give thanks for those who have died and claimed their baptismal promises. Strengthen us to live as they did in communion with you.

Trusting you receive all our prayers, we commend our spoken and unspoken prayers to you, O God, through Jesus our Savior. Amen.

Would you rather...

We will be preparing and serving dinner for 60-80 people at Holy Trinity Soup Kettle in Elgin this Sunday, May 31. We will prepare the meal between services that morning. Volunteers are needed to bake the casseroles at GLC that evening, and then deliver to and serve the meal at Holy Trinity. Click HERE to sign up for ingredients needed and to serve. While we are worshiping in Fellowship Hall, we need volunteers to welcome people into the Narthex. This will require opening and holding the door for people as they arrive, and staying in the Narthex for the duration of the service.
