Hello Families,
We missed a newsletter during the last week of February and wanted to share an important resource that can be used all year to continue rich conversations around honoring diversity and racial justice from our friends at Sesame Street.
As we move into March, we want to say Happy International Women's Day to everyone in our community! To celebrate, one of our curriculum resource, Gizmos, has curated an epic list of lessons honoring women in STEM throughout history. Check it out here!
We also want to wish all who celebrated Holi on the 8th a very happy Festival of Colors! To learn more about this special Hindu holiday, check out this read aloud!
Families with students who are "independent walkers"--please make sure your child has their purple walker tag attached to their backpack. Our team will no longer be allowing students to exit the independent walker gate without their tag. You can reach out to our front office team for replacement tags or to sign up your child to be an independent walker.
You may have noticed automated phone calls going out last week to notify of any student absences on our records. This is an accountability practice required of us as part of Independent Study Law--we will correct any absences in our system when Learning Logs are turned in. This new practice helps us facilitate well-checks and stay in touch with families who may be absent from their on-campus days.
Finally, we are SO excited to announce that we will be bringing back a favorite signature practice, our Parent Educator Conference! Thank you to all families who gave their input on what type of workshops they'd like to experience at this event. See below blurb for details!
Take Good Care,
Kaitlin (she/her) and Sage (he/him)
