November 2026 CHIMES

Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church, New Richmond, Ohio

Check out our new format!

This November edition of the Cranston Chimes comes to your inbox just in time to remind you of the Halloween Party at church on Saturday, October 31, 6 pm – 8 pm.

We welcome Trick-or-Treaters and their families into our Fellowship Hall, sharing candy and a warm welcome as they travel the village. Come join us! We always need greeters, a welcoming committee, and whatever help you can offer.  Come join the fun!

Good News!

This is the Sunday where you get an extra hour of rest because we Fall Back.

Daylight Savings Time ends late on Halloween.

Church is at 10:45 am Eastern Standard Time

New Delivery System for our Newsletter!

This version, now sent using Constant Contact, will start monthly, arriving to your inbox just before the first of the month. Constant Contact makes it much easier to compile and send church news. You are in control of your own subscription. Go to the bottom of this email to see easy options for subscribing, unsubscribing, or forwarding a copy to someone you believe would enjoy reading news from Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Why this new format? The software (Microsoft Publisher) used for years by Michael Findlan and then Chris Torrey was discontinued. Constant Contact is easy to use and we can build a team to compile future editions of The Chimes.

A second email from our Constant Contact format will start coming weekly in November. We're still working to perfect that format to include prayer concerns and invitation to worship.

In May and November each year Cranston has chosen to have a Noisy Offering to support Heifer Project International. Bring your loose coins each Sunday in November. (paper money welcome too!)

The Mission Statement of the Heifer project: Help end hunger and poverty - Since 1944, Heifer has supported farmers and their communities, helping more than 59 million families rise out of hunger and poverty.

In addition to the original work of this Christian mission, Heifer Project (based in Arkansas) offers deeply meaningful education programs about poverty and hunger which many young people from churches in this area have experienced.

Go to https://www.heifer.org/ to learn more. Bring money to put in the buckets each Sunday during November!

We receive the First Fruits Offering each month on the first Sunday of the Month! We encourage you to bring personal care items which we will deliver to the New Richmond Area Ministries (NRAM) Food Pantry.

We add personal care items to what the Food Pantry is able to offer because those in need in our community are eager for this help as well as food items!

What should you bring? This can be items like toothpaste, soaps, band aids and shampoo. It can also be cleaning and laundry supplies. . Exodus 23:19 says that we should bring the best of our first fruits to the house of the Lord our God. The verse shows the importance of bringing our first fruits as an act of worship. Bring needed personal items to put in the First Fruits donation box at the front of the church. The first Sunday of each month they will be gathered and those in need will know God’s love.

Let us know how many people to expect and what you will bring to share!

Cranston Memorial Presbyterian Church depends entirely on the giving of the congregation to provide worship, mission outreach, and building maintenance. By Session action, the first 10% - a tithe – of our tithes and offerings each week goes to Mission. The remaining 90% is managed by the Session, working with church treasurer Karen Roberts, to accomplish vital ministry. You can contribute through the offering plate on Sundays or by using the GIVE TO CRANSTON tab on the church website:

The New Richmond Area Ministries (NRAM) Thanksgiving service is at Cranston this year!

Come Tuesday evening, November 17, at 7 pm for the worship service led by area faith leaders and musicians.

We are the hosts for this event: let's welcome fellow Christians and others who come to participate in the Spiritual side of our Thanksgiving holiday!

The Giving Tree

The Mission Committee is continuing a project begun last year: on the giving tree you’ll find specific Christmas giving opportunities for families in need. We work through both Lions Reach Out and the Charter School in New Richmond. The Giving Tree will be out sometime in early to mid November to allow you time to shop and us time to deliver the gifts you provide to those in need before Christmas. More information in worship on Sundays!

Blessing of the Animals

On Sunday, October 4th, we had a Blessing of the Animals which went very well!

After having one animal to bless in person during Sunday worship, we gathered that afternoon on the front steps and were delighted by the number of animals (and their humans) who joined us for a brief time of prayer and a blessing for each animal (including a treat for the animal!).

Special thanks to Jackie Nelson, Ruth Saylor and Todd Houston for helping manage the event.

Todd Houston was our photographer.

We are Presbyterians!

Presbytery of Cincinnati

If you go to the Presbytery website (https://presbyteryofcincinnati.org/) and let the pictures scroll you’ll see both Greg Roberts and David Annett at a recent Presbytery meeting held at Covenant First Presbyterian Church. Under the Resources tab you’ll see links to the two weekly emails from Presbytery: Currents and Still Waters. These are edited by Pastor Ed Goode (the father of Zoe Goode, our preacher on November 29!). You can open those newsletters and sign up at the bottom (they use Constant Contact as we are doing here) or go to https://presbyteryofcincinnati.org/the-cincinnati-sampler/ to signup.

Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

We are a member church of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. , the largest Presbyterian denomination in the country. Through the website https://pcusa.org/ you can learn more about issues of interest to Presbyterians. On the main page as you scroll down you’ll find the weekly (and daily) lectionary readings. We most often lean on the Lectionary for our Sunday worship services. For a deeper, independent dive into what’s happening in the Presbyterian Church we also recommend The Presbyterian Outlook magazine. Go to https://pres-outlook.org/ to see how you could subscribe. Our pastors sometimes use worship planning resources from The Outlook or share other articles of interest.

Help Cranston Grow!

Please forward this email to someone you think might enjoy it. They can subscribe to Cranston emails if they choose. Perhaps they will join us for worship some Sunday soon!
