AAHOA Commends President Trump's Address to Congress, Commitment to Tax Relief for Small Business Owners | |

Following President Trump’s first Joint Address to Congress and the nation, AAHOA applauded his prioritization of tax relief for American families and small businesses. The president urged for bipartisan support of extended and expanded tax reductions, and he issued a proposal to eliminate taxes on tips, overtime pay, and Social Security benefits.
"President Trump's proposals are the kind of tax reforms our industry needs. That's why AAHOA will be in Washington, D.C., next week, March 11-12, to advocate for these critical measures,” said AAHOA Chairman Miraj S. Patel.

U.S. RevPAR +3.1% y/y last week; Luxury outperformance and Mardi Gras timing tailwind | |

As Truist Securities wrote, “Overall U.S. RevPAR was +3.1% y/y for the week ending 03/01/2025, per STR/ CoStar, above the prior week's result of -0.3% y/y and above the trailing 10-week average of +2.0% y/y. Last week's results continue to show a bifurcation of performance between "wealth effect"-driven Luxury (chain scale RevPAR of +10.7% y/y and impressively +7.0% for ADR) versus much softer RevPAR growth trends for lower-priced hotels (Economy - Upper Midscale +1-2%). There was also a timing calendar shift of Mardi Gras which benefitted New Orleans last week (RevPAR +30.6% y/y). Mardi Gras was March 4th in 2025 and February 13th in 2024. Upscale RevPAR: +2.3% y/y; Upper Midscale RevPAR: +2.1% y/y.”
