The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. - Psalm 19:17

We hope this glorious change in weather - along with weekly worship at MUMC - has been reviving your soul! This Sunday, Pastor Daniel is back in the pulpit to wrap up The Bible Toolbox. He’ll be preaching from the Psalms, the book right in the middle of the Bible filled with prayers of praise, sorrow, and everything in between. It’s the perfect conclusion to the series because it’s an invitation to bring our whole lives and our whole selves to the God we meet in Scripture. In God’s presence, we can show up exactly as we are.

The fall season at MUMC is bursting with opportunities to show up - small groups, Sunday School classes, special events like Halloweenie - and we’d love to help you find a place to grow.

We hope we’ll see you in worship this Sunday at 8, 9:30, or 11. We’ll be ready for you!

Peace,

Pastor Sarah Jo

Our Annual Report is now available and offers a snapshot of the ways God has been at work through our congregation.

Inside, you'll find stories, highlights, and impact reports from across our ministries, along with a look at how your generosity supports worship, discipleship, outreach, and care for our community.

We invite you to explore the report and celebrate all that we have accomplished together as we continue connecting all people with Jesus Christ.

The Ernest M. Funk Award of Christian Merit was established in 1991 by the Foundation of the Missouri United Methodist Church. The award is named in honor of Dr. Funk whose example of Christian service is a model for all. His leadership, Christian works and support of church programs have established a worthy model. Over the past 35 years, 10 individuals have received this award. There is a plaque in the Connector with the names of the recipients.

The Board of the Foundation of the Missouri United Methodist Church has chosen to honor Greg Thackery as the recipient of the Ernest M. Funk Award for 2026. Greg’s service most definitely reflects the qualities established for the Funk Award.

To quote Pastor Daniel Hilty “We lovingly joke that Greg must sleep in some secret room here at the church. He is always here, ready and eager to serve in whatever way is needed. He is the model of a servant leader and a good and faithful servant to the Lord.”

Here are just a few of Greg’s contributions to our church and community: assisting unhoused neighbors, feeding hungry congregants, Loaves and Fishes coordinator for MUMC, manning the connector desk, barbequing, caring for the health of our congregation by monitoring our blood pressures, serving communion, arranging liturgists, serving as a liturgist, walking for CROP, driving the van or bus, greeting, mentoring and serving as a past Lead Team Chair.

Congratulations to Greg Thackery, 2026 Ernest M. Funk Award recipient!

GENEROSITY CORNER: Serving Our Community Together

On Saturday, October 10, MUMC members shared their time and talents through two local outreach ministries, reminding us that generosity extends beyond financial gifts to the gift of serving alongside others.

Community United Methodist Church hosted its final Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Build of the year, with MUMC members Walt Muskopf and Greg Thackery helping construct components for 40–50 beds. This ministry works to ensure that no child in our community has to sleep on the floor. Keep an eye out for opportunities to participate when monthly builds resume in March 2027!

Eight members of Sophia Circle United Women in Faith, joined by eight family members and MUMC friends, served approximately 180 meals at the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen inside the new VAC Opportunity Campus. This marked the fourth month an MUMC group has served at the soup kitchen, providing baked potatoes with chili and toppings, sandwiches, and desserts.

Dora and Greg Thackery are coordinating serving groups for the second Saturday of each month in 2027. Interested in serving a meal with your group or as an individual? Contact Dora and Greg at kris10dora@socket.net. Donations designated for “Loaves & Fishes” are also welcome to help cover meal costs.

Thank you to everyone who gives their time, talents, and resources to help MUMC live out its mission of connecting all people with Jesus Christ!
