Partnering with Young Leaders & Preparing for Outdoor Dining
The past week of public gatherings in Ossining has been inspirational. As each of us tries to understand where we can make a difference, one role that village government can play is through youth programming. The Village Board is pleased to be welcoming young Ossining leaders who organized recent conversations at the waterfront to continue the conversation in a virtual Village Hall happening tomorrow at 5PM. The focus of this meeting is to clarify goals and consider potential programming for Ossining youth focused on dismantling racism. All are welcome to attend and will be able to submit questions live. Last week's village board meeting included a discussion about how to use public space to help address social distancing regulations. It was just five days ago that the governor added outdoor seating to Phase 2 which begins tomorrow. Fortunately, the village was already in communication with local businesses about a variety of approaches for how public space can be used to expand outdoor seating. Creative opportunities are being quickly explored and implemented and all processes have been streamlined in an effort to be ready for tomorrow's Phase 2 opening. Different solutions will work for different topographies and business locations. Click here to read last week's full agenda and view the meeting video.

Wednesday's Meeting
This week's work session opens with a discussion of recreation programming, including what summer camp could look like this year. Directives from the governor are evolving quickly and village staff is working to adjust to the changes. Click here to read this week's full agenda.
I look forward to seeing you virtually, from six feet away, or with our faces covered!
With Regards,

In partnership with The Ossining LGBTQ Alliance, the Village raised the Pride flag at Market Square on Friday. This was not a publicized event in order to maintain social distancing in compliance with state guidelines.
To amplify queer voices, we invited local LGBTQ leaders to speak in person at Market Square. Thank you to Christina Picciano, Kiara Taylor, William R. Hanauer and Cole Rivers.
To include as many voices as possible, we invited elected leaders to contribute written quotes which are included in this statement shared Friday afternoon.
The Pride flag is flying at half staff, consistent with all village flags during the pandemic.
