Tucker Hockey Tips
Connecting with Players
In today’s fast paced and information filled world, one of the buzz words is connecting. We can connect via phone, email, texting, as well as social media such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. It seems we have many communication tools to reach out and connect with people but it will never replace face to face interaction / connections.
As a professional hockey coach who has taught power skating and hockey skills to ages 4 to 81 and learn to skate to semi pro levels, Coach Rex prides himself on working towards having a good connection on and off the ice with each of his students.
To connect with his players depending of course on their age and skill levels, Coach Rex will often incorporate many of the following into his coaching methodologies:
• Create a partnership between coach and player to achieve optimal results
• Ask if there’s any specific requests the player or parent would like him to work on to customize the upcoming session or program
• Talk to the players - not at them - with open conversations
• Ask questions - get the player or players talking about what we are doing on the ice and why?
|
The Tucker Hockey Mission Statement:
Through The Tucker Hockey Way:
- Instilling the love and passion for hockey
- Being inclusive to all ages, background & skill levels
- Improving hockey and life skills in a positive learning environment
This is our Legacy of Values.

Bradley Mersereau Memorial Adult
Award Recipient
David Crosby
|
David feels that hockey is a sport that fully engages the senses and the mind.
He notes that skating on a cold moonlit night and slinging pucks at the net until his limbs feel like they’ll fall off is one of his favourite winter activities.
David, we are very pleased that you enjoyed the Tucker Hockey Way and and experience on the ice. See you on the ice soon!

Game Time Nutrition / Hydration for
Hockey Players
|
Do you know why proper nutrition is important for a hockey player?
Tucker Hockey is doing a three-part series that will focus on pre-game, game time, and post-game nutrition. What that looks like and why it is important for a hockey player.

Danny Cammack Memorial Minor
Award Recipient
Finley Kinaschuk
|
Finley is currently in grade 2 and is an active boy who loves hockey, baseball, playing at the playground and riding his bike. When at hockey, he enjoys scoring goals, encouraging teammates and he never misses out on taking his turn in goal. 🥅
August 2023 was Finley's first taste of Tucker Hockey and it was exactly what he needed to prepare for his U9 tryouts. Finley and his family are honoured to have received the Danny Cammack Memorial Award and feel that Danny is someone that Finley would have looked up to.
We are trilled to have Finley as part of the Tucker Hockey family and look forward to seeing him back on the ice soon!

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner - M. Erin Warburton!
With her razor-sharp intuition, she managed to guess a mind-bogglingly close number of 417, missing the mark by a mere two digits when the answer was 419. Let's give her a big round of applause! 🎉👏
Erin's son James used the free program to attend our Strategic Shooting & Offensive Tactics program this summer
