A Peek at the PAC: The PAC Has Expanded,

Welcoming Two New Members

The Patient Advisory Council (PAC) is pleased to welcome two new members. A resident of the Homalco First Nations in Campbell River, Alison Trenholm is our new representative from British Columbia, and Lyzane Bissonnette from South Shore of Montreal is our new representative from Quebec.

Meet Alison and Lyzane

Alison was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2024, received a stem cell transplant in March of 2025, and achieved full remission in July 2025. Alison resides in Campbell River, British Columbia. She has worked for her Nation for 30 years. Alison has been married to her husband, Dale, for 40 years, and has three daughters and two granddaughters.

Lyzane was diagnosed with smoldering myeloma when she was 43 years old and it became active in spring of 2020. Since 2021, Lyzane has been an active volunteer with Myeloma Canada. During this time, she has been a support group leader for the South Shore of Montreal, helped to create the first ever South Shore Myeloma March in 2022, and is part of Myeloma Canada's Ambassador Network.

She was featured in the Spotlight section of the Myeloma Canada Myeloma Matters newsletter in August 2025 and was awarded the 2025 Myeloma Canada Community Achievement Award. Lyzane lives in the South Shore of Montreal with her husband. She has two young adult children. She was a teacher for 33 years prior to her retirement in 2025.

The PAC brings together a truly national perspective, representing voices from across Canada. Its members span the country, from New Brunswick to British Columbia to the Great North, reflecting the diversity of experiences, communities, and healthcare systems across the nation. The PAC includes representatives from major urban centres such as Toronto and Montreal, as well as individuals from remote and northern communities, including Yellowknife and the Homalco First Nation near Campbell River. This broad geographic representation ensures that patient perspectives from diverse cultural, regional, rural, urban, and Indigenous communities are heard and reflected, bringing an informed and meaningful patient voice to the Myeloma Canada Board of Directors on issues that matter to patients and families across the country.
