AI Toolkit for Disability Service Providers

ACDS has launched a toolkit to help disability service providers navigate the safe, ethical, and effective use of artificial intelligence in their organizations. The toolkit provides a practical framework to guide decision-making, shape policy, and ensure AI use reflects organizational values and legal obligations.

Cost: ACDS Members: $30.00 + GST; ACDS Associate Members & Non-Members: $45.00 + GST

In addition to the AI toolkit, the purchase includes access to the recorded webinar The Future Is Now: Embracing AI in the Social Services Sector, hosted by ACDS, along with the accompanying presentation slides.

SIVA Crisis Prevention Training

ACDS now offers Crisis Prevention Training in partnership with SIVA (Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments). This trauma-informed, relationship-based approach focuses on proactive strategies to promote safety, collaboration, and empowerment for individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours.

The SIVA model emphasizes prevention over crisis response, encouraging informed decision-making, healthy connections, and systemic approaches to creating safe and supportive environments across community disability services.

Additional Sector News and Resources

PDD Funding Review

On December 2, 2025, the Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) announced a review of the PDD funding model. ACDS has long advocated for a comprehensive review of the funding model, to help address the Community Disability Sector’s longstanding challenges and shape a funding model that better reflects the needs and realities of individuals and service providers. We look forward to providing constructive input including working with our members and the broader CDS sector to help shape recommendations that reflect sector needs and support long-term sustainable services. The government will be engaging the sector and wider stakeholders as it advances the review process in 2026.

Inclusion Alberta Resources: ADAP

In September 2025, ACDS joined other partners in roundtables on Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP) where we provided feedback on the program and recommendations for adjustments. We continue to engage with the government on ADAP and will share updates as they become available.

In the meantime, Inclusion Alberta has produced the following resources that may be helpful to you.

The Nonprofit Chamber: 2025 State of the Sector Report

The Nonprofit Chamber recently released its 2025 State of the Sector Report. The report provides insight into the trends, issues, and opportunities faced by Alberta’s broader nonprofit sector.
