IMPROVE YOUR ACTING AT THE ACTORS GYM!
Whether you're experienced or you want to try acting for the very first time, the ADR Actors Gym is ideal to pursue your acting goals. Conducted by writer-director-producer and acting instructor, Eric Nemoto - the founder of the Hawaii community theatre, TAG - The Actors' Group - actors will find the gym to be the perfect place to keep their acting skills fresh if they're experienced, and if they're a newcomer, to learn the fundamentals of acting in a very fun and nurturing environment. Using movie scripts, actors build their acting muscles by usually performing three scenes (and sometimes four) during every class!

Acting is no different than any other learning endeavor. The more you do it, the better you get, and you profit from your mistakes. I believe in the adage, "Repetition is the mother of skill." I feel that an acting class should focus primarily on the 'actors.' Less talk, more doing. If an actor practices scenes over and over again, will they improve? Absolutely. The Gym allows actors to perform scenes, while I point out what is good, what needs correcting, as well as the fundamentals. Eric Nemoto | | | | |

IF YOU HAVEN'T SUBSCRIBED TO THE GYM YET, DO SO TODAY!
The Actors Gym is held every Wednesday night from 6:15 pm to 9:15 pm (except the last Wednesday of every month) in Rick Bernico's Hawaii Profiles photography studio at 1154 Fort Street Mall, Suite 221 in downtown Honolulu. It appears LIVE online on a subscription basis at actorsgym.online. If you are interested, sign up on that site for one of the three options that let you attend class. Subscription rates range from $10 to $30 a month depending on the number of classes you want to attend, and if you pay annually the cost for each class is even less! You cannot get any better than $10 (or less) a class! These are the absolute best rates anywhere!

And If You Just Want To Watch
If actually participating in class is not your cup of tea, or, if you live in a different time zone (e.g. on the mainland USA or internationally abroad) so attending class is not possible, you can still be a part of the Gym by tuning in to watch the class either LIVE, or on a streaming basis. Subscribe to our "Screening Package" for just $4.99 a month (or $49.99 a year) and you can join in the class at your leisure. Also available is the "Library Of Learning Package," which, for a one time fee of $29.99, you can have access to over 3,000 hours of previous acting classes. Interested? If so, again, subscribe at actorsgym.online!

MORE ABOUT THE GYM
Eric Nemoto's teachings are based on over 30 years of being an actor himself on stage and in films, being a director of many stage plays and independent films, and, of course, teaching hundreds of actors. Because in-person classes could not be conducted during the great pandemic, he made use of the down time to write and publish his book, "Just Act - A Practical Guide To Learning The Basics Of Acting." His theories on acting and the practices he espouses, which are contained in the book, form the basis of the Gym, and are organized in his teaching chart (see below). ADR sells this book in a digital format and it can be purchased here.

HERE ARE SOME SCENES FROM OUR LAST GYM!
Thomas "T.C." Smith plays 'Kaffee' and Drew Austria plays 'Dawson,' in scenes from "A Few Good Men." Note Drew's handling of the script.

Scenes & Reels: Each Gym is saved for future viewing and will be available on actorsgym.online the day after every class, where it will remain until the next LIVE class. Every scene is also separately filmed and recorded and is available for purchase from Rick Bernico for $35. Rick is also available for hire if an actor needs a professional reel done. He can be contacted at rick@hawaiiprofiles.com.

MEET THE REST OF THE TEAM THAT MAKES THE GYM POSSIBLE
The Actors Gym is sponsored by the ADR Agency, one of Hawaii's top model and talent agencies for over 40 years. It has been owned since 1998 by Ryan Brown (below left), who has created the online subscription platform on which the Gym is taught live. Rick Bernico (below center) is the owner of Hawaii Profiles, the photography studio in which the Gym is taught. Rick operates the three cameras and six microphones, along with a switcher that enables angle changes, which makes the Gym's scenes pop both visually and audibly. Lance Motogawa (below right), is an advertising executive and the host of the radio show, Motogawa Music Entertainment (Hawaii Retro 97.1, Sundays, 8:00 am to 9:00 am). Lance will be lending his marketing experience to the Gym in order to reach a wider (hopefully worldwide) audience, targeting those who would want to tune in to a great class of actors having a great time in beautiful Hawaii! This trio, along with Eric, make the Gym work. Because of them, actors have a great place to work out!

GETTING THERE
Parking downtown is free from 6 pm. And from that time, in addition to available parking spaces, you can park in yellow colored loading zones. Red colored zones may also be okay if not a bus stop or obstructing traffic. Once parked, make your way to Fort Street Mall. The entrance to 1154 Fort Street Mall is a locked black iron gate that is between S. Pauahi Street and Chaplain Lane (closer to the latter). Once you're at the gate, call Rick at 808-780-5554, and he'll come down to let you in. NOTE: Often times someone from the building may cordially let you in as well.

The Future Of The Actors Gym
Going LIVE is just part of the journey towards making the Gym the most innovative acting class anywhere. We will be pursuing the concept of enabling actors to participate virtually and either acting with other virtual actors, or, acting with actors who are physically in the class. Eventually, we'd like to invite actors from all over the world to submit self tapes for critiques. Basically, the Gym will embrace the Internet and attempt to make this little class being taught in the middle of the Pacific to be a place where people from around the world can drop in to learn and enjoy this wonderful craft called "acting." Stay tuned for more!
