A FRESH START FOR 2025:

GROWING EDIBLE GARDENS

As we welcome 2025, Communities in Bloom invites you to join us in exploring our Theme of the Year: Edible Gardens. Growing your own food is a powerful way to support sustainability, enhance local ecosystems, and build stronger connections within our communities. It also provides a meaningful response to the challenges of food insecurity. This year, let’s focus on creating edible landscapes that nourish both people and the environment. Together, we’ll plant the seeds for a greener, healthier future!

PLANTING FOR TOMORROW PROGRAM

Supported by the federal 2 Billion Trees program, Trans Canada Trail's Planting for Tomorrow Program (PTP) provides funding for native tree-planting, invasive species removal, seed collection and seed starting projects that contribute to nature-based solutions to improve ecosystems, enhance biodiversity and engage the local community in volunteerism and participation. Any planting location in Canada is eligible (does not need to be on or along the Trans Canada Trail) and the program covers up to 50% of project costs. We are primarily focusing on planting smaller native trees, including seedlings and saplings. If this fits your plans, we would love to hear from you via application!

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ainsley Munro directly via email (amunro@tctrail.ca), or schedule a time to meet with her over Teams. Trans Canada Trail looks forward to a potential collaboration in future!
