Dear Gordon JCC Members,

Thank you for your patience as we studied the science and considered the best way to safely serve our members once the mandates were lifted in Nashville. Based on the effectiveness of the vaccines and the studies that show fully vaccinated people are not likely to transmit the virus, the JCC will not be requiring fully vaccinated individuals to wear masks on our campus beginning Monday, May 24th. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks after the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or two weeks after the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Individuals who are not fully vaccinated, which includes children thirty months and older, are required to wear masks inside our building. The JCC will not be validating the vaccination status of our members, we are trusting our members to follow these guidelines for their own health and for the health of our community. We also realize that some fully vaccinated people may choose to continue to wearing masks, and we respect their decision.

The lifting of mandates allows to make some changes to Fitness.
·        We will no longer have a mask required session and will not restrict equipment usage to provide social distancing.
·        We will continue to close the Fitness Center from 12:35 – 1 pm on weekdays and 12:15 – 12:40 pm on weekends for the electrostatic spray cleaning.
·        Reservations are still required in the Fitness Center and Gym to allow us to contact trace if the need arises.
·        The Fitness Center will be closed on Tuesday, September 25th from 12:35 pm – 4 pm to allow us to move equipment around and clean.
·        We will no longer provide Fitness classes on Zoom after May 31st; with the exception of Tai Chi, we will begin bringing classes back to the JCC in June. Please check our Fitness Schedule and eblasts for further information. Tai Chi is expected to return to the J in early August when we have the appropriate space. Please note, we are revamping the Fitness Class schedule and focusing on quality instructors versus quantity of classes, so bear with us as we build this new schedule and answer the survey about Fitness Class preferences going out later this week.
·        Please remember to bring your own workout towels. We will continue to provide individual spray bottles and cleaning towels for members to clean equipment immediately after use.

For Aquatics, there will be few changes. Vaccinated swimmers and parents will not be required to wear masks on the pool deck. We’ve heard our swimmers and we plan to keep the reservation system for lap swimming and water aerobics indefinitely. We will be closing the Indoor Pool this summer for construction and our Aquatics Team has done everything possible to give our lap swimmers as much time in the pool as possible. Further information and the schedule are forthcoming.

Camp Davis and the ECLC will continue to follow the rules established by the Department of Health and masks are still required by all adults, regardless of vaccination status, and children 30 months or older, when indoors. We are carefully addressing new guidelines when they are released. We are still doing everything we can to minimize exposure within our building. We are expecting lots of campers at Camp Davis this summer, and they will use alternate entrances and exits whenever feasible.

Please continue to monitor your own health. If you are having symptoms that might be related to COVID or any other contagious illness, please stay home and protect everyone.

Thank you for your support and cooperation as we navigate these changing times.
