WEEKLY UPDATE- August 6, 2026

Hello All –

A few things to share with you this week.

DBA Member Portal: A number of our DBA Members still need to sign into the new Member Portal so you can review your membership page info and add your logo to ensure your listing is visible and accurate. Follow this link to our guide to using your member portal. If you have any challenges, please reach out, and someone will help you through the process.

August 24th Mixer at Renaissance Palm Springs: As you can see below, we will be at the Renaissance Palm Springs on Monday, August 24th. This is a great opportunity to network with other businesses and community organizations, so register today.

It’s HOT outside! Yes, this happens every year, so we should not be surprised. However, people are still not prepared when they are out-and-about, so please follow these tips:

  • Hydrate. Drink plenty of water and carry an insulated bottle with you at all times.
  • Don’t leave your pets in the car. This should be obvious, but we still see people doing it. If you see this, call the Police Department and they will handle it.
  • Use paw booties when walking dogs outside. The pavement is HOT and their little paws can easily burn. If you cannot walk on it barefoot, neither can they.
  • Stay Off Trails During Peak Heat Hours. The Palm Springs Fire Department reminds residents and visitors to take extra precautions, especially mid-day. We regularly get 110 degrees or more each day so be smart.
Our First Responders (Fire, Police, Ambulance) often have to rescue people hiking the trails who have medical emergencies when hiking. This is a costly use of resources and diverts these responders from their other required duties. You can see their advisory
    here.

As always, if you have any questions or comments or need some help promoting your business, please reach out to us.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you at a future event.

Be well...dave

Poorly Drawn Pets Returns

Animal Samaritans launches its wildly popular Poorly Drawn Pets fundraiser. For a $20 donation, pet lovers receive an original portrait of their pet created by one of Animal Samaritans' volunteer "artists," including staff members, talented local artists, and featured local celebrities. The results range from hilariously quirky to surprisingly artistic, but every portrait is one-of-a-kind and helps support homeless pets.

Pet owners can submit their photos beginning DOGust 1 at animalsamaritans.org/art
