Tiny Homes of Hope

Support Hope, Safety, and a Future Free from Domestic Violence

At Esperanza Shelter, we provide more than just shelter—we offer hope, healing, and a path forward for survivors of domestic violence. Every day, individuals and families turn to us in desperate need of safety, advocacy, and support. Your generosity ensures that we can continue this critical work.

Urgent Call for Funding: Help Us Secure Additional Support

State and federal funding for domestic violence programs is in jeopardy. We are advocating for increased state funding through Senate Bill 191 and House Bill 216 to ensure that domestic violence agencies across New Mexico receive the resources they need. Currently, only $2 million has been allocated in House Bill 2—this amounts to just $66,000 per agency, which is simply not enough.

How You Can Help

We urge you to contact members of the Senate Finance Committee to express your support for additional earmarked funding for domestic violence services. Your voice can make a difference in securing the resources necessary to sustain our programs. Committee members can be found here.

Building Hope: The Tiny Homes Transitional Housing

Esperanza Shelter is taking an inspired step toward providing transitional housing for survivors by partnering with local organizations to build three tiny homes as part of the Northern New Mexico Ice Box Challenge in Summer 2025.

These energy-efficient homes will be constructed by local youth in collaboration with trade professionals, offering hands-on training in sustainable building techniques while addressing the urgent need for safe transitional housing. The homes will be displayed near the New Mexico State Capitol, each containing one ton of ice to demonstrate the impact of energy-efficient construction.
