A message from Dr. Maria Muzik

Dear colleagues,

I hope that this newsletter finds you well, and that you are finding time to enjoy and restore during these warm summer days.

As I reflect on our work at MC3, I am aware that many in our community are wondering how potential Medicaid changes might eventually impact our work and the families we serve. In the face of this collective uncertainty, I am reminded that over the years, as funding and opportunities have changed, MC3 has worked to adapt. We do this while maintaining a focus on our guiding principle: support for pregnant and postpartum mothers and children throughout Michigan.

While I recognize that adjusting to possible new circumstances can bring challenges, I also believe times of change can provide opportunities. By uniting across organizations, providers, and advocates, we can strengthen our collective ability to navigate potential changes and continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of Michiganders. Strong partnerships will help us ensure that essential supports remain accessible.

I am inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer, member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, botanist, and author of The Serviceberry. She reminds us of the power of reciprocity and collaboration in nature, encouraging us all to move beyond scarcity mindsets and focus on collaboration and the sharing of resources for the greater good. Through any changes ahead, MC3 is committed to open communication and collaboration in the service of Michigan’s families. By working together, we can uphold our commitment to the many families who rely on us.

As always, thank you for your ongoing dedication to Michigan families. Warm wishes for the late summer days ahead.

With deep gratitude,

Maria Muzik, M.D., M.Sc.
