CHANGE YOU CAN SEE

Austin Street Reconstruction 30% Design Approved

During the August 19, 2025, regular City Council meeting, Council approved the 30% design of Austin Street. This allows the designers, Halff Associates, to move forward with the final design. Review a typical street layout featured in the project.

RM 967 Deceleration Lanes

The new deceleration lanes are still on the way! Before construction begins, a few final steps must be completed:

  1. Securing a TCEQ permit
  2. Relocating a utility pole
  3. Finalizing the transfer of right-of-way from TxDOT to the City of Buda

In the meantime, here’s another look at the preliminary design to remind you what’s planned for the project area.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Middle Creek Rehabilitation

The project is on track to be advertised for bids this month, September 2025. Following further discussion, City Council chose to delay the start of construction until January 2026 to help minimize disruptions for residents and visitors during the busy holiday season.

Eastside Park Master Planning

The City of Buda acquired approximately 29 acres of land located 1,900 feet west of FM 2001 at 1645 Hillside Terrace in June 2024. Since then, staff has worked with Halff Associates to begin the design and master planning of the land for the future Eastside Park.

An open house is scheduled for Wed., September 24 from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Buda City Hall for the public to provide feedback on the amenities they'd like to see at the new park. For those not available to attend in person, a virtual option will be available September 18-30 at www.budabonds.com.

Garison Memorial Park

The park project is moving closer to construction. City staff are wrapping up the final design details and expect to advertise for construction bids in November 2025. Once a contractor is selected, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026.
