Dear Friend,
As a mom to two teenage boys, I can tell you that raising kids in this new digital age comes with challenges our own parents never had to think about. The internet creates incredible opportunities, but it also exposes our kids to real risks.
Online safety for minors shouldn’t be a partisan issue. That's why I was proud to help pass the bipartisan KIDS Act. This bill is about giving parents more tools to protect their children and making Big Tech take more responsibility for keeping kids safe online.
For families, that means stronger safeguards against predators, scams, drug-related content, gambling, and other harmful material targeting minors. Parents will have easier-to-use controls to manage what their kids can access online, and children's accounts will automatically receive the strongest privacy settings instead of requiring parents to hunt through complicated menus.
I know I’m not the only mom out there who struggles navigating these apps and all the features they offer!
The bill also cracks down on targeted advertising aimed at kids, limits how companies can collect and use children's personal information, puts commonsense guardrails in place for AI chatbots, and requires age verification for certain content.
Moms and dads deserve partners when it comes to protecting their kids. I’m thankful to have helped push this important step toward putting parents back in the driver's seat, giving them greater peace of mind, and putting kids’ safety online first.
