The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Luke 24: 13-35

In our gospel it is still that first Easter afternoon, when we find two of Jesus’ followers, walking home, feeling sad and depressed.

What worries you? What is your sadness?

Where do you find joy? What are you grateful for?

We are all on a journey that encompasses both sorrow and joy.

Come to worship, praying you might encounter Jesus in a new way.

Risen Jesus, How wonderful it is that you walk with us! No matter what we are celebrating or what difficulties we may be experiencing. Be with us Lord Jesus, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

What does it mean to be Easter people?

• We thank you for the many ways you call us to serve and help, lead and teach. Inspire us to use our gifts for the good of others.
• Open our hearts to the beauty around us and renew our commitment to care for the earth. Protect those impacted by environmental disasters, especially flooding and climate change.
• For family, friends, neighbors, and all who support us in love. Strengthen our connections. And bring healing where there is brokenness.
• We celebrate the diversity of your people and ask you to empower us to stand against discrimination, hatred, and all forms of injustice. Thank you for the blessings that connect us including art, music, movies, sports, and technology. Help us find balance and to always seek human connection above convenience.
• We lift up all who suffer with physical and mental illness. We ask you to be with those who are displaced — refugees, immigrants, those without shelter. Surround them with care and open paths to security and peace. Bring healing to places of conflict, and raise up leaders committed to justice and peace.

Into your hands, O God, we place all our prayers, trusting in your mercy and love through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Thank you to everyone who particpated in the soup project - making some or decorating and serving it. It was so nice for you to be remembering seniors. And also for the crackers and goodies. It is nice to have people think of us with gestures such as this. Peace and Love to all. - Donna McKee
