In this month’s Professional Development newsletter, we highlight strategies for dealing with stress, during this busy time of year, plus the next deadline for the HEO-CLT Professional Development fund.

January 1, 2024 is the next deadline to apply to the HEO/CLT Professional Development Fund.

December 16, 2024 is the deadline for the next cycle of the PSC-CUNY Research Award. 

Grants range, up to $12,000 and can support research, creative work and graduate students.  Full-time members of the instructional staff, including Higher Education Officers (HEOs) and College Laboratory Technicians (CLTs) are eligible to apply for the PSC-CUNY Award Program.

The holidays and end of semester can be a stressful time of year. Here’s a selection of LinkedIn Learning courses offering various strategies for dealing with stress.  

If you missed 2024 CUNY Professional Development conference in November, recordings of the sessions are now available. Click here and request access to the Sharepoint site. 

Curious about studying for the Certification in Public Health (CPH) exam, offered by the National Board of Public Health (NBHE)? Take NBPHE’s comprehensive CPH Review Sessions this winter, featuring eleven interactive, virtual two-hour sessions designed to deepen your understanding of each certification content area and strengthen your ability to apply this knowledge in practice. As a CUNY employee you are eligible for a Tuition Waiver. Once you satisfy the service requirements specified by your position (see tuition waiver page for details), you are eligible to waive the cost of tuition at any CUNY school, up to a maximum of $5250.00 tax-free, per year.

CUNY offers a variety of virtual and in-person courses throughout the year.

Visit the CUNY Professional Development & Learning website for the latest course information and registration process. If courses have a fee, speak to your supervisor and Human Resources as to whether financial support is available through your department, SPH administration, the HEO-CLT Professional Development Fund or other means.

Your card is only active for 30 days, and you will need to visit one of NYPL’s open locations to validate your card. For non-NYC residents, bring a copy of your CUNY ID card. Harlem Library is the closest location to SPH offices.

Via CUNY, limited access is available through University Human Resources and Labor Relations (UHR), Professional Development and Learning (PDL), by completing a request form here.

Please note PDL has a small number of licenses and access is limited to 3 weeks.
