THE NOVEMBER ISSUE OF THE FOURTH ESTATE IS HERE!
|
|
The Fourth Estate was recently recognized with an Honor Rating of First Class with Marks of Distinction for Visuals and Presentation by the National Scholastic Press Association. NSPA has more than 1,350 members and is a national community of student journalists and scholastic journalism advisers.
The judges commended the design of the publication, noting that the magazine's illustrations do an excellent job of capturing attention because of their appearance and execution as well as communicating a clear message to readers. They also noted that a strength of the magazine's coverage is its ability to combine verbal and visual messages so consistently.
Way to go, Fourth Estate staff! Be sure to check out the latest issue at the link below!

Come to school tomorrow, 11/18 dressed in Fall colors and images! At lunchtime, students will be offered a slice of pumpkin or apple pie, and will also enjoy listening to students who choose to share about the things for which they are thankful.
The Lower School occasionally designates “dress down” days when students do not need to follow the uniform dress code. On these days, students may wear their choice of shorts, nice blue jeans, leggings, pants, skirts, tops and/or dresses. T-shirts must be free of objectionable words or images and not be a typical undershirt. Athletic shoes of any color continue to be the required footwear for students. Pajama pants and other sleepwear are not typically permitted.

FOURTH GRADE STUDENT COUNCIL SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES FIRST TERM
|
|
Congratulations to fourth graders Sebastian, Kaila, Chloe, and David for completing a fantastic first term of leadership on our Lower School Student Council! The purpose of Lower School Student Council is to add another inclusive leadership opportunity for our Lower School students, specifically for our fourth grade “seniors” on campus. All fourth graders serve on LS Student Council, rotating in terms throughout the year.
As our current student council leaders, Sebastian, Kaila, Chloe, and David helped to guide the fourth grade class through the writing and choreography of a Lower School cheer that they now lead each week during Tecolote Tuesday Assembly. They also suggested multiple fresh ideas for our Lower School Dress Down Days. In addition, they have established a weekly opportunity for fourth graders to review positive playground rules with younger students, as well as an opt-in 4th grade “playground assistants” role during snack and lunch recess.
Bravo to Sebastian, Kaila, Chloe, and David for their strong leadership! After Thanksgiving, our second term will begin under the leadership of Annabelle, Izzie, Jacob, and Kora.
